Diet Wars — Who Will Win?

You have to have a sense of humor about this really. If you didn’t laugh, you’d probably cry.

Let’s look at the big picture here. Every natural living thing knows what to eat except us human beings.

Isn’t that totally bizarre when you really reflect on it? We need clever people with Ph.D’s to have wars and study for decades then finally an answer will pop out and we’ll all finally be able to relax about food. And at the same time enjoy the highest levels of health and vitality…

To be fair on the Ph.D’s, there are solid reasons why these wars exist. Number one is our separation from nature, number two is our rapid spread across the globe resulting in a wide range of human diets and number three is the extraordinary adaptability of humans to survive and even thrive on a wide range of diets.

When you cross a massive number of external variables (diets) with a massive number of internal variables (genetics) you get a puzzle that’s almost impossible to solve.

These diet wars are going to run and run for a long time and my guess is the diet wars will still be raging when you and I are pushing up some lovely daisies. That’s because in my view, science hasn’t even scratched the surface of possibility yet.

Yes, we have science, we have studies of populations, we have theories but I reckon that science isn’t even asking the right questions. So coming up with the right answers is impossible.

The Unexplored Dietary Territory

Raw foods and the idea of raw food diets has been around for a very long time. The Essenes — around the time of Jesus and who Jesus is said to have been affiliated with, were raw food vegetarians. So the idea is old.

Although you might not have heard of raw food diets, there’s been an explosion in interest in these types of diets recently and it’s growing at a very fast rate.

People are curing themselves of all sorts of nasty things, like diabetes and, yes, even cancer, using raw foods. So it’s a sort of underground movement that science hasn’t woken up to yet.

Yes there’s the odd obscure study here and there but not much. And yet, underground so to speak, the people are doing it for themselves and trying these diets with amazing results.

Now don’t get me wrong. The raw food diet is not without either it’s detractors or it’s problems but there is great potential in the idea of raw foods.

I used raw foods to get my life back after a 13 year hangover with chronic fatigue syndrome so I know what I’m talking about.

So while the experts are arguing about macro-nutrient ratios and fat percentages, people are curing themselves of diseases for which science and medicine has no answer.

The raw food idea isn’t even a player in the diet wars yet, that’s how far off we are from a resolution of what the hell we should eat.

But my prediction is this; it will be a form of raw diet. Maybe not in 20 years, or even 50, but it will happen I think. Until you’ve experienced how it feels to do a raw diet for a few months, you can’t imagine how good it feels.

Now that feeling, that feeling of “rightness” and energy and clarity is an experience that you’ll never forget. It would become a benchmark where everything else is dull and boring by comparison.

The sooner science wakes up and starts to look at raw food diets the better. Because people trust science, they want proof. And until that time it’s going to take highly motivated people, sick people with nothing to lose to move the raw food thing forward.

Not that there’s going to be a shortage of sick people. Disease rates are growing at silly rates because our lifestyles are so out-of-whack compared with the natural lifestyle our genetics evolved with.

So the winner of the diet wars is not even a player yet. Don’t believe me? Try all raw foods for a few months. You’ll be flying and you’ll see what I mean.

The long term picture of raw food diets is very hazy at the moment and that’s why I say; the winner of the diet wars will be some form of raw diet. I think these are exciting times because as the raw food movement grows, which it will, and we learn more, which we will, then everyone will begin to feel amazing. That’s going to translate to a whole new world.
