It’s All About Feeling Good

“Feeling good” is the ultimate aim of the Habit Guide system—the “lifestyle” and using the power of habit to achieve that lifestyle.

You might want to call it “joy,” “happiness” or “zings” but whatever you want to call it, it’s feelings that for simplicity’s sake, we’ll just call “good.”

As I recovered from 13 years of “no joy,” “no happiness” and “no zings” I had moments of exceptional clarity, contentment and happiness. I realized that how we feel is due to our lifestyle choices. I mean—at that stage I had very few possessions or relationships, no job, no money, no home—I had nothing external—I’d lost everything due to illness.

I told this story to my friend one day and she said she’d had a similar experience. She’d been in hospital and had been put on a drip with no food for a few weeks. She’d experienced what I had experienced—extreme clarity, contentment and happiness.

When her body had been given a break from processing and dealing with food, it had freed up lots of energy to do housekeeping—returning to a state of homeostasis, a state which your body is always striving for.

Of course we can’t all go on a drip but we can get happy by helping our bodies function really well.

And happiness—feeling good, is where you should focus your energy because it’s the reason why we do anything at all—to FEEL GOOD.

There’s a whole spectrum of good feelings—security, love, clarity, energy, fulfillment, intimacy and so-on.

Another friend said to me the other day “Is this it—is this all there is to life—work, bills, stress?” It’s such a common feeling. The feeling that we’re on a treadmill we don’t like and we can’t get off the damn thing.

The problem is that most folks are putting all their energy into externals—house, money, job, car, partner that they think will make them happy. There’s nothing wrong with all these goals but if you want to be happy and have more zings, you definitely need to focus on health first.

Health should be No.1—your top priority

When you have amazing clarity and energy, your life will automatically go in new directions that you can’t even imagine right now. That’s why health is no.1.

So, to sum up—all our motivation for doing anything is to feel good and we feel good by changing our inner state first.
