That is the absolute key to effective change and a happier life…

A regular sleep habit is the foundation of both health and good life habits. Once you’re in a good sleep routine, sticking to your planned routine will be much easier.

Your attention can then be placed on the things you want to grow and nurture in your life. It’s so easy to get distracted otherwise and just drift. Drifting will not get you where you want to be.

You are the Sum of Your Habits

Feeling amazing is largely about getting yourself to take certain actions, regularly. Preparing healthy meals, taking exercise, meditating, being organised so that you’re free to enjoy the present moment…

Once all these things are in a system, feeling amazing is just a matter of carrying out your actions consistently.

When you’ve sorted out a healthy diet for yourself and planned an exercise routine along with all the other obligations you have in life, then your plans can be transferred to a ‘real time’ schedule. Time is a limiting factor so it’s important to be efficient.

Once you know what you’ve got to do and when you’ve got to do it, just do one thing after another. Give enough time for each thing so you’re not rushing. Your plan is fundamental and should have your regular attention.

When Life Gets in the Way

Getting the important stuff first means that if your plans go pear shaped — as can easily happen — then you’re flexible.

You can can drop the “times” you planned and just work through your list — one thing after another. Then all the most important stuff is more likely to get done.

Your Top Priority

Put your health first — top priority. My first thought of the day is generally “When can I get my exercise in?” Health is the foundation of happiness. Put it first.

Time is limited, and so is attention. Put everything that needs your attention into a system and see how you suddenly relax…

A feeling of being in control of life flows in. Attention is tied to time. Whatever you want in life, it won’t happen without your time and attention.

So when are you going to give your time and attention to the things that really matter to you? You need a good mental map in order to be relaxed and enjoy the present moment.
