Quantum Leap or Baby Steps?

Sometimes it’s better to take a quantum leap (big change) and sometimes baby steps.

99% of the time though, baby steps are better.

That’s because your ability to follow through depends on your motivation.

Before you take a leap or a baby step, you need to be committed. So, thinking about where you are right now — how committed are you? How much pain are you willing to take?

If the answer to that is “not much” then baby steps are the way to go. If there’s no urgency to change, baby steps can still take you to a happy and healthy place with very little in the way of discomfort.

When I did one-to-one personal training, what really hit me was how fast time went by. It seemed like no time at all until the next weekly appointment.

If you make a little change each week then it soon mounts up.

One of the big mindset issues with change is that people associate change with pain and so naturally try to avoid it or fear it. This is because people attempt too much and that results in too much pain and failure.

But when you take baby steps the opposite is true… you start to believe in yourself, you see that change is easy, you become excited by the possibilities and you start to see light at the end of the tunnel; e.g. “these 10 little changes or steps will get me there.”

Habit Guide will supercharge your ability to manage change. You’ll soon begin to believe you can finally have what you may have struggled to get in the past.

  1. I think that’s great advice — baby steps is usually the way to go. Quantum leaps usually end in disheartening disappointment and a greater resistance to trying again in future.
