Do You Make This SERIOUS Parenting Mistake?

My good friend Rob told me a heart warming story yesterday. Rob is an “honorary” uncle to his best friends’ little girl Chloe.

One of my BIG BIG regrets as a parent was getting the food thing wrong… terribly, terribly wrong. I have a reasonable excuse however, in that I was pretty much a zombie when my son Sam was at the stage of putting things in his mouth.

Regretfully, he did eat a lots of jarred mush.

Nowadays, I cringe when I hear parents scream “Get that out of your mouth” in such a panic that you’d think the house was on fire or something!

No, if I could do it again I’d do it differently. When Sam was putting things in his mouth I’d have some cut up fruits and veg ready in the fridge to substitute.

Which bring me back to Rob’s niece Chloe.

Chloe’s parents are doing a much better job of it than I did with Sam which is why it warms my heart — because this is SO SO important!

Rob told me that Chloe had been away with her family and when they got back, he asked Chloe if she was glad to be home. “Yes” she said, “I miss the veg from the garden.”

Chloe is 5 years old by the way.

Apparently, she wanders around the garden munching on the organic and raw vegetables! A slightly different scenario to Sam’s unfortunate start in life. Sorry Sam.

One of Chloe’s favorite “treats” is a bowl of BROCOLLI !

Yes you read it right.

So… Don’t make my MASSIVE mistake — which I feel guilty about to this day. Do it Chloe’s way. When your kids are putting stuff in their mouth, give them raw fruits and veg to “play” with and you’ll be setting them up for a healthy and happy life!
