Enough joy to make you smile

Enough joy
Kids seem to be so insightful these days.
I was shocked when Sam (age 11) came home with this poem he’d written at school.
He was only given the method for doing it and didn’t get any help with the content.
He didn’t see why I was amazed and said there were lots of better ones!
Here it is…
Enough joy to make you smile
During this year may you have;
Enough friends to make you happy
Enough clothes to keep you warm
Enough sleep to keep you active
Enough space to make you run
Enough objects to keep you grateful
Enough food to make you strong
Enough joy to make you smile all day
Enough failure to stop you boasting
Enough success to keep you going
Enough power to make you advance
– by Sam K
What do you think? Are kids more “advanced” than we were at their age? And if so, why? Please, tell me what you think below :-)

oh and btw, the sunflower pic was one I took of a sunflower in my back garden. If you’d like it for wallpaper or to print I can send you full size file :-)
I was stunned when I read that poem… Great work Sam :-)
How wonderful is that? Another writer in the family I’d say!
Sam,
That is a beautiful piece of work. You did a terrific job! Mike, why don’t you make the scan of the original clickable, so we could look at the full size version?
All the best,
Phil
Hi Phil,
Yes it would be nice to have it full size. I don’t have it handy at the moment though, I’ll look at it when I get time :-)
Cheers!
Mike
What a splendid contribution from Sam, Bless him. He is one happy little guy showing huge potential which, hopefully, will be nurtured + given space. Whilst I do think children today are more ‘advanced’ in many ways than we were at that tender age,it does not take age nor ‘advancement’ to portray happiness + depth of feeling — one either has it or does not + Sam has it in bucketfuls.
Thank you so much for sharing it.
